Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was satisfied with the outcome of the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit which has agreed to enhance regional ties for mutual and sustainable economic growths.
The Thai premier concluded his visit to India to join the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit on occasion of the 25th anniversary of the ASEAN-India relationships, during which he observed the Republic Day of India in New Delhi.
He said the summit included an informal meeting on maritime cooperations and security and the summit on the shared values and goals of ASEAN and India which focused on the enhancement of regional ties.
The ASEAN countries and India agreed to establish a maritime cooperation based on the Indo-Pacific strategy and to push forward the establishment of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) to complete within this year in order to yield mutual benefits for the society, prosperity, and security.
Regarding his talk with his Indian counterpart, he said that both sides agreed to support the enhancement of technological connectivity between the people of both countries, setting up a network of SMART Cities to promote intelligent urban areas development which include small and medium-size cities in keeping with the Thailand 4.0 goal.
Thailand also reaffirmed its readiness to be a coordinator for the ASEAN-India relations in order to promote positive strategic partnerships between ASEAN countries and India.
Leaders of all the ASEAN countries joined the 69th Republic Day ceremony where they witnessed a parade in New Delhi city center.
