“Safe zone” established at market in Yala

Security forces have beefed up operations and established a “safety zone” at a fresh market, where a motorcycle bomb attack took place on January 22nd, 2018.

Security measures have been tightened at Phimolchai market, following the bombing which killed three people and wounded 18 others.

Police and military officers together with territorial defense volunteers have been deployed at the market entrances to keep a close watch on people and suspicious objects.

The atmosphere at the market was quiet with few visitors. A number of vendors also closed their shops today (January 23rd).
