The Meteorological Department forecast that Bangkok would experience cooler weather and thunderstorms on January 29th and 30th, 2018, which will help reduce air pollution and dust.
The Director-General of the Meteorological Department, Wanchai Sakudomchai, said the level of the dust, known as particulate matter (PM10), has exceeded the average level in many areas of Bangkok. However, the rainfall yesterday (January 24th) helped dilute pollution to a certain extent.
The Meteorological Department also forecast that temperatures in Bangkok from January 31st to February 2nd will mostly range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are expected to drop the most on February 2nd.
Mr. Wanchai said temperatures in northern Thailand, especially on the mountains, could fall to zero degree Celsius next week.
