No timeframe set for local elections as yet: Interior minister

No timeframe has been set for local elections until after the amendment to a relevant law, said Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda.

He said the amendment to the law governing the local administrative organizations was recently submitted by the Council of State to the cabinet.

The amendment is mainly related to the qualifications of local council members and executive officials, pertaining to the local elections.

He added that it remains to be seen whether or not the community administrative organizations will be abolished and that the amendment to the related law might take as long as a one-year time to be completed in the National Legislative Assembly.
