Khon Kaen Airport suspends service after fire

Khon Kaen Airport has announced temporary service suspension following a fire incident.

The blaze broke out in the morning at the electrical control room on the third floor of the departure hall. More than 1,000 passengers were immediately evacuated. Firefighters spent more than an hour extinguishing the blaze and smoke continued to hover around the building.

An initial inspection found that the damage is limited to the electrical control room. Khon Kaen Airport is suspending its service for the time being to pave the way for safety operations. All flights and passengers have been transferred to Udon Thani International Airport until the situation returns to normal.
