Khon Kaen air traffic intact from airport fire: AEROTHAI

A fire which broke out at Khon Kaen airport has not affected its air traffic control though it caused several airliners to land at Udon Thani airport.

Aeronautical Radio of Thailand’s (AEROTHAI) President Sarinee Angsusingha said the blaze at Khon Kaen airport inflicted a minor damage to the airport facilities.

According to the safety protocol, the Department of Airports has issued a NOTAM warning to pilots regarding the temporary closure of the passenger terminal in case of fire, causing five airliners operated by Thai AirAsia and THAI Smile to use Udon Thani airport instead.

AEROTHAI chief said the accident has not affected the air traffic management or air traffic control and confirmed that the airport will provide navigation services to and from Khon Kaen airport as normal after the damage has been fixed.
