Foreign Affairs Ministry believes US & EU still supportive of Thai roadmap

Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes the US and EU will still support the Thai government, despite its recent response to the possible election delay.

Busadee Santipitaks, Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the National Legislative Assembly is considering further amendments to the organic law on electing Members of Parliament, which could further delay the election too early 2019. She added that it remains uncertain what course of action the assembly will take.

Busadee also responded to the recent statements by the US and EU urging Thailand to hold elections in 2018, saying she believes the countries will continue to support the Thai government in its reform roadmap.
